Meditation

'The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers;
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!'
~ Wordsworth

"Although science has made many advances in our modern age, to use scientific knowledge to understand meditation is, as the Chinese proverb says, 'To scratch itching foot with boot on.' We can imagine that all our human knowledge is a building with many windows. Each window gives a different and valuable view of life. Science is a window. Philosophy is a window. Religion, Psychology, Physiology, ...and all other fields of study are windows. As long as we continue looking out of these windows, we will never get outside. We will never have a chance to look at this building in which we live. No matter how much knowledge we gain, we are still 'looking through windows'."
